How To Tell If A Designer Bag Is Real

If you are looking for a designer bag, such as an Hermes Birkin Bag for sale, it's important that you pay close attention to the details. Since these bags are so popular, various outfits have begun replicating them and making counterfeits! The customer must be discerning. Here are some tips to help you tell whether a designer bag is real or fake.

1. Consider the retailer.

If you are buying a bag from a reputable company whose main business is selling designer bags, then the chances of getting a fake are much lower. Read reviews, chat with the vendor to make sure they seem honest, and do some research to make sure the company has been around a while. On the other hand, if you're buying a bag from some fly-by-night seller on the street, you must be more suspicious. Someone without a real business selling bags out of their trunk, for instance, is probably selling knock-offs.

2. Check for an authenticity card.

Real designer bags are sold with authenticity cards. These cards certify that the bag is actually made by the specified designer. Ask to see this card before you buy a bag. If it is unintelligible, does not have a serial number on it, or seems to be made from a flimsy material, it may be a forgery. Some fake bags don't even have a fake authenticity card, which is absolutely a red flag.

3. Examine the stitching.

The stitching on designer bags is expected to the perfect. If you look at the stitching and it is at all uneven, sloping, or loose, that probably means you're looking at a fake. The best place to look at the stitching closely is inside the bag. Makers of knock-off bags typically spend a lot of time making the outside of the bag look convincing, but they skimp on the inside.

4. Try the zippers and closures.

Try all of the zippers, snaps, and other closures before buying a bag. If something does not close easily, you can bet the designers would not have let that slide! The makers of fake bags, on the other hand, don't pay attention to these details. Again, it is often the inner zippers and closures that have issues since these are more easily hidden.

If you buy from a reputable retailer, you should not have to worry too much about the potential for a fake bag  but it's still nice to know how to tell!
